How to Visit Kutná Hora from Prague by Train (Step-by-Step Guide)
Kutná Hora is one of the most popular day trips from Prague, known for its unique bone church and beautiful old town. A day trip from Prague is simple, comfortable, and easy to do by train.
Buying Train Tickets in Prague
At Prague Main Station, there is a service center from ČD (Czech Railways). Just queue for domestic tickets. The staff are friendly and speak English.
Based on my trip, I paid 332 CZK for a return option with an open ticket.
A one-way ticket costs 166 CZK (~€7).

Boarding the Train in Prague
Pay attention to which section of the platform your train departs from.
Platforms are very long, so check the departure boards and where people are waiting.
There was free WiFi on the train.
Train Connection
- Train: R18
- Transfer: Kolín
If the platform is unclear:
There are displays in the tunnel showing which trains leave from which platform.
The station is small and easy to navigate.
Arrival in Kutná Hora
After about 55 minutes total, you arrive at Kutná Hora station.
Walking to the Bone Church (Sedlec Ossuary)
From the station, it’s an easy 15-minute walk to the bone church.
- Walk straight from the station to the bridge
- Then turn left towards the center
Buying Tickets for the Bone Church
About 150 meters before the church, you will find the ticket office (“Kasa”).
You can buy entrance tickets there.
Staff speak English, German, and Czech.
Payment is possible by card or cash.
On the way, there is a toilet (WC):
- Cost: 20 CZK
- Cash only (Czech crowns)
Getting to Kutná Hora Old Town
The old town is absolutely worth visiting and one of the most beautiful historic areas in the Czech Republic.
- Walking time: about 30 minutes
If you prefer the bus, just ask at the tourist information center.
